mixtwojacks is a brand new passive headphones combiner, specially crafted for the film, TV, and live music industries. It is designed to allow you to monitor the audio of your walkie-talkie and IFB simultaneously using your own headphones. Key Features • Two inputs and one output • Transparent audio signal • Low attenuation and reduced crosstalk • Attenuation trimmer for M mono input, to adapt to any walkie-talkie model • Strong metal belt clip • Convenient, small, and lightweight (64x35x27 mm – 35 grams) • No power supply needed How it works mixtwojacks® is plug & play and can be easily integrated into your audio setup. It has two audio inputs, both on a 3.5mm mini-jack connector. These can be used to connect two audio sources via their headphones outputs and combine their signals. All you need to do is connect the IFB to the ST stereo input using the supplied mini-jack jumper, and your walkie-talkie to the M mono input through a PTT cable compatible with your model. Then, connect your headphones to the OUT output, and you’re ready to go. You will now hear both the IFB and walkie-talkie on both the left and right channels of your headphones and can use the push-to-talk microphone on the PTT cable for communications. Trimmer Different walkie-talkie models vary in output level and voltage. Some models may have excessively loud volume even at minimum settings, or they may produce noticeable ‘bumps’ when the push-to-talk microphone is activated. This can be corrected with the trimmer on mixtwojacks®, which adjusts the circuit for any walkie-talkie model by adding a variable resistor to the M input, keeping the ST input level unchanged. To adjust the M input level, turn the trimmer with a small screwdriver. PTT Cables To use the walkie-talkie with mixtwojacks®, you need a PTT cable. This cable allows you to send the walkie-talkie’s audio output to mixtwojacks® and monitor it through your own headphones. Despite the wide variety of walkie-talkies available, the most common 2-pin connector standards are primarily three: Motorola, Kenwood, and Icom/Midland. With these three cables you will cover almost every model of 2-pin connector radio. For specific compatibility details, please refer to our Radio Connector Chart.
